How does the Oil Sands industry operate? Why is the Alberta Kenney government in apparent conflict with the BC Horgan and the Federal Trudeau governments over transporting oil sands crude and products? What would a carbon-constrained world mean for the oil sands?  What does the Covid-19 pandemic mean for the Oil Sands?

There are no simple answers to these questions.  But to begin to deal with the complexity of the industry, you need to grasp some fundamental concepts.

Over two days at Oak Leaf’s oil sands course you will gain a solid understanding of the resource base, recovery techniques, upgrading, refining, and transportation. You will also learn about government policy, industry economics, and the technological, political, geopolitical, and other forces that determine oil sands development. Not only will you analyze and discuss these issues and information, you will also take home with you a detailed course materials binder to keep at your finger tips. This course provides participants with context and the tools to understand the industry.

Our goal at Oak Leaf Training is to make complex issues and concepts understandable. Our oil sands instructors are effective communicators that have all worked over 30 years in the energy industry and hold specific experience in oil sands. The course is highly interactive — with activities, videos, and discussion all designed to develop practical industry knowledge. At the end of the two days, you will return to your organization with extensive knowledge of the oil sands industry and greater insight into the possible directions the industry could take.
