Overview and Description
The focus of the one-day Financial Literacy for the Energy Industry course is on understanding the design, construction and interpretation of financial statements. Using a round-table discussion format, the facilitator will review the key elements of the key financial reports of a Canadian energy company.
Topics covered include:
- Generally accepted accounting principles and IFRS
- The audit opinion
- The nature of “accrual accounting”
- Components of the Income Statement
- Components of the Balance Sheet
- Components of the Cash Flow Statement
By the end of the day participants in the Financial Literacy for the Energy Industry course will be able to read financial statements, understand how they are constructed, and be able to communicate with financial professionals in an informed manner.
